Biography

b. 1951 Frances Broomfield is a painter based in Cheshire, England. She studied Fine Art Painting at Newport Art College. She works primarily in oils and tempera, producing highly-detailed paintings to illustrate well-known children's stories, fables, and myths. Her work deals with the recurring themes of animals, ancient landscapes, characters, mystery and humour. she was the recipient of the L.S. Lowry Award, The John Downes Memorial Award and the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Award. Her work is in collections in the Warrington Museum and Gallery and the Glasgow Museum.
