BROWN, NEAL

Biography

Neal Brown trained in Fine Art at Hornsey College of Art, where he studied in the late 1970’s. He has been an infrequent exhibitor, but is represented in significant collections. Brown recently showed at the L-13 Gallery, in London. A technically accomplished painter, Brown also curates exhibitions, has written on art for many UK and international art magazines, and is the author of books and artists’ catalogue essays. He has made an ongoing series of works based on drawings that he made as a child, the designs of which have been faithfully transferred to canvas, with the addition of deep, rich colour depicting cowboys, devils, soldiers, boats, and animals. Brown’s other themes have included spirituality, religion, punk, and drug and alcohol use. Images of his work have been used on a number of book jackets.
