Bridgeman Artist

Girardon, Agnes

Biography

A student of the expressionist painter Serge Strosberg, she was for a time the assistant of the West Indian artist Henri Guédon, until his death. Abstraction and matter then appear in her paintings, letting the innate, the unconscious guide her gesture. Painting represents a space of freedom, it is a means of communicating emotions, colours and shapes are the expression of it. In her work, which she often likens to a meditation, she wishes to provoke a reaction in the viewer, leaving him or her free to interpret. Eager for new artistic experiences, she draws inspiration from her travels to give them a more abstract dimension. She presents her work in solo and group exhibitions in Paris, New York, Saria, Hossegor. In 2015, she attended the Chelsea College of Arts illustration course in London and in 2016 produced her first illustrated book. Each page is a watercolour that traces the journey of two little girls in India and Nepal. Since 2018, her art is exhibited in the virtual gallery artDeme
