Biography
Hessen Kassel Heritage manages the internationally acclaimed collection of European Old Masters at the State Museum in Kassel, Germany. primarily assembled by the eighteenth-century prince, Landgrave Wilhelm VIII of Hesse-Kassel, the museum houses one of the finest collections of the Dutch Baroque, a comprehensive collection outstanding for its depth and systematic displays in school and period. Adding to the earlier acquisitions of his princely predecessors, Wilhelm housed his comprehensive collection in the Baroque Schloss Wilhelmshohe building. European masters from the 15th to 18th centuries are on show including Albrecht Durer, Frans Hals, Rembrandt, Rubens, Poussin and van Dyck.
