JERSEY HERITAGE TRUST

Biography

The Jersey Heritage Trust is an independent organisation that is responsible for the island of Jersey’s major landmarks, museums and public archives. The Trust’s works relate to the history of Jersey, amongst which are a portrait by Sir John Everett Millais of the infamous Jersey-born actress Lillie Langtry, lover of the future King Edward VII as well paintings of the Nazi occupation of Jersey’s capital St. Helier during the World War II. Of particular interest are many surreal self-portraits by the artist Claude Cahon, otherwise known as Lucy Renee Mathilde Schwob, who settled in Jersey with her partner Suzanne Malherbe.
