THE WORDSWORTH TRUST

Biography

The Wordsworth Trust is the Centre for British Romanticism. It was founded in 1891 as a ‘living memorial’ to the life and literature of William Wordsworth and his contemporaries. Based at Dove Cottage in Grasmere, erstwhile home of William Wordsworth, the Trust houses collections of paintings and drawings, including portraits of leading Romantic figures such as Wordsworth, Samuel Taylor Coleridge and Robert Southey as well as the surrounding landscape that proved so inspiring to them.
