TOWNELEY HALL ART GALLERY AND MUSEUM
Biography
When Towneley Hall was sold to Burnley Corporation, only a handful of the family’s pictures were left in the building. Today there are almost 1500 oil paintings, sculptures, watercolours and illustrations in the collection, some of which were once owned by the Towneleys. Many are by nineteenth century British artists including Sir Edwin Landseer, John William Waterhouse and Sir Edward Coley Burne-Jones. They are displayed throughout the building.
