Warrington Museum features a wealth of material on the natural world including new Lottery-funded geology and botany galleries with a range of family-friendly activities, an interactive computer resource facility and the town’s very own dinosaur. Local and social history galleries also feature displays on the industries that shaped the town plus a fascinating Victorian ‘Time Tunnel’. Warrington Museum has excellent art collections, including works by internationally famous artists, are displayed throughout the building. Other galleries feature the museum’s collection of ethnographic material, displayed as it was in the 1930s, including such treasures as fake mermaids. The museum’s most popular exhibit however is the beautifully decorated Egyptian sarcophagus and Egyptian mummy.
