JOSEPHINE HENNING

Biography

Josephine Henning, a former national football player born in 1989, currently lives and works as a freelance artist in Cologne. She is also a member of the advisory board of the Stiftung Fußball & Kultur EURO 2024 gGmbH. Throughout her career, Josephine Henning exemplified openness. Born in Mainz, she ventured abroad as a football player, playing in Paris, London, and Lyon. She is the only woman to have won the UEFA Women's Champions League with three different clubs. With the German national team, she won the Olympic gold medal in Rio 2016 and the European Championship three years earlier. During her professional career, Josephine Henning completed a B.A. in Health Management and also studied Graphic and Interior Design. At the age of 28, she decided to fully dedicate herself to her artistic work. Her art spans a broad spectrum, from acrylic on canvas paintings to large murals, medal designs, and live paintings in sports arenas. Her focus is on the passion of sports and supporting NGOs that promote diversity and equality, connecting people and tackling societal issues. She uses any medium that best fits the story she wants to tell but there is always a narrative embedded in her work whatever the medium. An optimist through and through, there is often a mischievous element to be found in her works. 'Josi' Henning is also well-known to the general soccer audience as a TV expert for Amazon Prime during the Champions League and most recently for the Women’s World Cup on ZDF.
