PERFRANCESCHI, PAOLO
Biography
Born in Verona and trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, Paolo Perfranceschi was heavily influenced by the masters of the Italian Renaissance (Fra Angelico, Paolo Uccello and Piero della Francesca). Other references were incorporated into his painting during his long stay in Paris: Oriental art discovered at the Guimet Museum and contemporary artists such as Balthus and Hopper. Since the 2010s, marked by a growing passion for David Lynch's cinema, he has been exploring the relationship between painting and cinema in a play of interference, quotations and diversions. He has participated in national competitions and increased his visibility abroad: his works are part of private collections in Paris, Tokyo, Rome and the United States. At this time, Perfranceschi established his headquarters in the Centre-Val de Loire region, where he expanded his network of partners (galleries, public institutions, artistic associations). In the peaceful atmosphere, conducive to introspection, the artist reconnected with nature, music and books. It was in this context that he conceived paintings with strong thematic coherence and developed true series.
