Noah Stitt was born on the coast of Maine, U.S., in 1988. He holds a B.F.A. in Studio Art from Montana State University and a M.F.A. from Hunter College. Falling in love with the medium of paint from an early age, he has been making and exhibiting paintings and sculptures for over 20 years. Merging the subjective and objective through a process of intuitive abstraction, his work employs humor, subtlety, and suspension to create specifically ambiguous images that allude to a narrative reading. These 'narrative abstractions' create scenes wherein familiar notions of rationality need not apply, and connections and meaning between seemingly unrelated things become perceivable to the viewer.
