Biography

A leading museum, founded by Daisaku Ikeda in 1983, the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum aims to provide a ‘cultural cross-roads’ with a world-class collection of both Eastern and Western art. European works cover a broad period and include Renaissance masterpieces by Ghirlandaio and Bellini, Dutch masters by Ruisdael and Hals, Rococo works by Nattier, Fragonard and Boucher and paintings by Renoir, Cassatt and Cezanne. The Japanese collection includes ceramics and paintings from the key schools from Momoyama, to the Late Edo period, scenes of the Kabuki theatre, Ukiyo-e prints and important examples of lacquerware, armour and swords.
