Biography
The California Historical Society is the first West Coast historical society to join the Bridgeman archive. The CHS was founded in 1922, by C. Templeton Crocker, after multiple setbacks including fires and earthquakes, and quickly began to establish itself as one of the foremost collections of Californian antiquities, paintings and historical documents. From San Francisco’s Chinatown to the region’s vast natural beauty, the CHS offers a pictorial history of this unique and diverse region of the United States.
