HACKNEY MUSEUM
Biography
The Hackney Museum was established in 1986 by the London Borough of Hackney and moved into new premises in March 2002. The museum features displays on the history of immigration over the past 1000 years, looking at the range of stories of some of the amazing people who have made their homes here since Saxon times. Exhibits such as the child’s sculpture from Sierra Leone or a propaganda sheet from Nazi Germany powerfully illustrate the forces that have driven people from their original homes, amongst other fascinating accounts and memories from around the world by local people.
