Biography
John Cooke (b. 1929 d. 2018) was an award-winning artist and illustrator from Sheffield, UK. He studied at the Stoke-on-Trent College of Art. He subsequently worked on many calendars, cards, posters and book-jackets, notably the cover of E Nesbit’s The Railway Children, Penguin Popular Classics. HRH The Duke of Kent was among the famous collectors of Cooke’s work. He was renowned for his landscapes, especially of the Lake District, his home. He was also known for his portrayal of the desert in the Middle East.
