Gabinsky, Frances
Biography
Frances is a freelance print and textile designer. She started her career hand-drawing for Alexander McQueen. Her pencil drawings were made into embroideries and shown in Alexander McQueen’s Fall 2007 Ready-to-Wear collection. After graduating from Central St Martins Frances moved to New York to work as a design intern for Diane Von Furstenberg. Here she developed embroideries and artwork for prints. One design was used as a signature piece in the Fall 2012 collection. She then worked at Preen in production, working with luxury fabrics, and continued at Celine in the fabric department. After being head-hunted by Daks, Frances was commissioned to complete two print designs for their SS14 collection. She now works as a freelance print designer and illustrator, collaborating with a variety of top designers and publishers in Russia and London. With designs ranging from an entire print collection for Moscow Fashion Week and an international childrenswear company to the invitation for this year’s Bloom Gin summer party, she has proven herself to be highly versatile. Frances’ skills and proven success in drawing, hand-painting and digital design have seen her become a leading UK designer.
