Harris, Graeme

Biography

Graeme’s photography career has spanned six decades, from its beginnings at Helmut Newton’s studio in Melbourne, Australia. After moving to London in the early 1970s Graeme began freelancing as a people and studio still-life photographer, mainly for the advertising and publishing industries. This then led to corporate annual report photography, with reports for leading companies taking him on photographic assignments around the world.  In recent years, Graeme has also taught extensively – both at colleges and privately - and it was when teaching that Graeme was inspired to write the bestselling book Collins Complete Photography Course with John Garrett. Alongside his commercial projects Graeme has produced a portfolio of personal work including his family, landscapes, and a series of natural, found objects. He has also spent many years experimenting and perfecting a variety of photographic and darkroom techniques. This body of work has received much interest from publishing companies like The Art Group with many of his studies of leaves, flowers and shells being used extensively on posters and cards for key retailers such as Ikea and Habitat. He has also had three exhibitions in London dedicated to his personal work. Graeme continues to work on commercial projects for London-based design agencies and is currently producing a range of bespoke images for an interior design company.
