Biography
Wole Oyeyemi was born in Ipefu-modu in Ife North local Government Lagos, Nigeria. He joined the ori olokum theatre groupe from 1977-1979. His first exhibition, as part of this group, was during FESTAC 77. (Festival of African Arts and Culture). ‘I was honoured to be selected because of my work by Oba Aderemi( the first black governor of the western region on Nigeria) to decorate 2 shrines belonging to the oba of Ife. My style is distinctly African and draws influences from Susan Wenger and by Oshobo culture where I come from.’
