Founded in 1935, SFMOMA is one of the largest museums of modern and contemporary art in the United States and a thriving cultural center for the Bay Area. The museum has in its collection important works by Henri Matisse, Jackson Pollock, Diego Rivera, Wendy Red Star, Carrie Mae Weems, Kehinde Wiley, Mickalene Thomas, Dorothea Lange, Imogen Cunningham, and Hung Liu, among many others.
